School Bus Safety Information
The "Danger Zone" is the area on all sides of the bus where children are in the most danger of not being seen by the driver (ten feet in front of the bus where the driver may be too high to see a child, ten feet on either side of the bus where a child may be in the driver's blind spot, and the area behind the school bus).

School Bus Safety Fact Sheet
Every year, approximately 440,000 public school buses travel more than 4 billion miles and daily transport 24 million children to and from schools and school-related activities. School buses account for an estimated 10 billion student trips each year.

More Safety Information
There are times when parents want more information concerning school bus safety, seat belts on buses, school bus standards or guidelines. There are many students in the Birmingham School District who are not eligible for school bus transportation; many of these students will walk or ride bicycles to their school of attendance. Our hope is that the following websites will be of help to them.
